Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing
The Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing Team rolled into AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for round seven of the 2018 AMA Supercross series. Arlington also served as the opening race of the 250 East Supercross series. Suzuki RM-Z250 rider Jimmy Decotis scored a career-best third place finish in front of 57,421 spectators. Weston Peick rode with vigor on his Suzuki RM-Z450 in securing the second heat race win of his career and backing that up with a strong seventh place finish in the main event. In doing so, Peick moved up to fifth in the championship point standings.
Suzuki RM-Z250 rider Kyle Peters was involved in a disastrous first-turn crash in the 250 main event, but that didn’t dissuade the Greensboro, NC native. Peters worked his way up to 15th place. Malcolm Stewart was on his way to a season-best finish aboard his RM-Z450, running as high as eighth for most of the race. Unfortunately, “Mookie” had an off-track excursion that moved him back to 11th on the night.
H.E.P. Motorsports
The H.E.P. Motorsports team came into Arlington, Texas with a stable full of all-new Suzuki RM-Z450’s looking for the gate to drop. With Henry Miller recuperating from a right shoulder injury, everyone was curious on how his performance would be. With grit and fortitude, Miller showed up to Arlington ready to race and exceeded expectations by making his second career main event. Fellow teammate Kyle Cunningham also showed determination during the 450 LCQ by coming around the first lap in 18th position. Cunningham put his head down and charged hard through the pack on his RM-Z450 catching up to sixth place when the white flag waved. With less than 53 seconds to go, Cunningham made two valiant passes to capture the last transfer position into the main event. This season’s ceiling continues to look high as H.E.P. Motorsports prepares for Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida this weekend.
Nut Up/LVN100/Suzuki
The Nut Up/LVN100 /Suzuki race team truck was back in action for Arlington with the Supercross season debut of Josh Hansen. Hansen has been sidelined due to a preseason foot injury and gave it a valiant effort in qualifying throughout the day. Logging a best time of 58.594 on his all-new Suzuki RM-Z450, Hansen was a bit off pace needed to make the night show but was proud to be out representing the RM Army. With more seat time throughout the week, look for Hansen to improve upon the season and get back to his natural form. Teammate Matt Bisceglia is still recovering from injuries sustained in Glendale, Arizona and looks to be back soon.
